WinGD has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions to enhance engine aftercare and technical services for ship operators in the Middle East. The agreement, reached during Nor-Shipping in June, will support the delivery of WinGD’s new lifecycle support programme, Global Service by WinGD, which extends maintenance, repair, and retrofit assistance across the entire lifespan of its engines.

The collaboration will combine WinGD’s expertise in engine design with Qatar Shipyard’s infrastructure and location to provide more efficient regional service. Rudolf Holtbecker, WinGD’s director of global service, said: “Shipowners today are looking for trusted partners who can provide expert support at every stage of an engine’s life. This MoU establishes one footprint in the Middle East area as part of our commitment to delivering tailored, OEM-quality services worldwide.”

Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions chief executive Jos J.A.A. Goris said: “WinGD is the ideal partner to make sure our customers have access to the very best engine advice, remote support and retrofit solutions.”

The agreement comes ahead of a wave of more than 100 LNG carriers powered by WinGD engines that will enter operation on Qatar projects from 2026, strengthening regional service capabilities for the growing fleet.
