Wärtsilä has signed a long-term overhaul frame agreement with Swedish operator Erik Thun Group covering technical support, field services, workshop support and spare parts for machinery across its fleet of about 50 vessels.
The agreement, booked by Wärtsilä in the first quarter of 2026, was developed with fleet management partner MF Shipping Group and covers the operator’s four-stroke medium-speed engines, propulsion systems and shaft line equipment. Wärtsilä said the scope includes overhaul services, technical support, workshop reconditioning and parts supply to maintain operational reliability and extend equipment life across Erik Thun Group’s general cargo vessels, product tankers and cement carriers trading in northern Europe.
Henrik Källsson, Deputy Managing Director, Erik Thun Group, said the agreement reflected the operator’s focus on reliable operations and continuous improvement. He said Wärtsilä’s technical expertise would support the group as it introduced more sustainable vessel designs.
Wärtsilä said the agreement would support proactive maintenance planning and reduce downtime on short sea schedules through field service support and OEM-standard reconditioning. Stefan Wiik, Vice President, Parts & Field Service, Wärtsilä Marine, said the company would “enhance fleet reliability, minimise downtime, reduce fuel consumption and simplify overhaul planning for short sea schedules”. He added that long-term lifecycle support would help operators maintain compliance and operational performance as regulation tightens and decarbonisation requirements increase.
