The agreement incorporates Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight service, which leverages artificial intelligence (AI) for predictive maintenance. This technology helps reduce operating costs and unplanned downtime by identifying potential issues before they escalate, improving overall asset efficiency. Through the use of Wärtsilä’s global Expertise Centres, real time monitoring and maintenance will be provided, ensuring the vessels remain compliant with environmental regulations.
"This agreement is a testament to the mutual efforts and dedication of both the Royal Caribbean Group and Wärtsilä teams,” said Roger Holm, President of Wärtsilä Marine. “It not only solidifies our exemplary long-term partnership but also elevates our collaboration to new heights. Together, we are committed to achieving the highest operational reliability and meeting the strictest sustainability and decarbonisation standards in the cruise industry."
Royal Caribbean’s Palle Laursen emphasised the importance of collaboration to meet the cruise industry’s net-zero goals, highlighting the role of technology in driving greener maritime operations.
