US east coast repairer Detyens completes refit of USNS Leroy Grumman (T-AO-195)

The US east coast repairer Detyens Shipyards, in Charleston, South Carolina, completed the refit of the US Navy’s Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet replenishment tanker USNS Leroy Grumman (T-AO-105) in early May. This vessel is operated by the Military Sealift Command (MSC).
The tanker underwent a USD 153 million fixed price contract for the 108-day shipyard availability for the regular overhaul and drydocking of the fleet oiler.
Meanwhile, on May 4th, the following vessels were undergoing repair at this yard included the following:
- USNS William McLean (T-AKE-12) – 43,758gt 2011-built Lewis & Clark dry cargo ship, owned by the USN and operated by the MSC
- USNS Pathfinder (T-AGS-60) – 4,260gt 1994-built Pathfinder-class oceanographic survey vessel, owned by the USN and operated by the MSC
- USNS Zeus (T-ARC-70) – 15,929gt 1984-built cable repair ship, owned by the USN and operated by the MSC. The only vessel of this class built and the first cable ship specifically built for the USN.
- North Ocean 102 – 11,680gt 2009-built offshore flex lay vessel, owned by US offshore giant McDermott
- Na’Hoku – 375gt 1981-built tug, owned by US operator Noah Towing, Charleston
