Synergy Marine Group signs MoU with Cochin Shipyard

Synergy Marine Group and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly pursue shipbuilding, repair and conversion projects in India.

The agreement combines CSL’s shipyard capacity with Synergy’s experience in vessel engineering, owners’ representation, project management and long-term technical management. It covers joint business development in ship repair, conversion, newbuilding, module fabrication and oil and gas projects.

Synergy has supported more than 250 newbuilding projects, with its current assignments covering more than 150 vessels under construction at 20 shipyards in six countries. The company also has experience in converting LNG carriers into floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), including feasibility studies, engineering, procurement, site supervision and commissioning.

The MoU also provides for technical and strategic advisory support to CSL’s newbuilding activities, including project planning, execution and quality assurance. Potential projects will be assessed according to client requirements and the suitability of CSL’s facilities.

Jesper Kristensen, group CEO of Synergy Marine Group, said combining the companies’ capabilities could support shipbuilding and conversion opportunities in India. “A vessel’s long-term performance is shaped well before it enters service,” he said, adding that the company aimed to carry owners’ requirements through engineering and project execution into vessel operations.

CSL chairman and managing director V. J. Jose said Synergy’s newbuilding and conversion experience complemented the shipyard’s industrial capabilities and could help develop technically demanding projects for international customers.
