Singapore’s ship repair giant Seatrium, the world’s largest repairer of LNG carriers, has just secured three new fleet repair contracts for these types of gas tankers; one new contract and two renewals of existing contracts.

Seatrium, formed last year by the merger of Singapore’s two largest ship repair and conversion specialists, Sembcorp Group and Keppel Offshore and Marine, calls its fleet repair contracts Favoured Customer Contracts (FCC) and has signed a first-time deal with Greek LNG carrier operator TMS Cardiff Gas, and renewed existing contracts with Greek operator GasLog and Satsco.

TMS Cardiff Gas’ FCC is for the repair and upgrade of the Greek owners fleet of 17 LNGCs.

The contract includes responsibility in joint planning, information and experience sharing.

Commenting on the signing of the FCC, Alexandros Politis-Kalentteris, Deputy COO of TMS Cardiff Gas said “The selection of Seatrium as our partner in Singapore aligns with our strategy of to grow our LNG business in Asia. We have worked successfully with Seatrium on three LNG refits and we see Seatrium as the right long-term partner who understands the stringent requirements of our company. Moreover, Seatrium boats have a very strong track record in the specialised field of LNG carrier repairs and upgrades. We are confident that this newly forged partnership will benefit both organisations in the planning and execution of our drydocking work in a safe, timely and cost-effective way.”

The most modern of TMS Cardiff Gas’ LNG carrier fleet are the eleven 174,000m3 capacity vessels built between 2020 and 2021, which feature GTT’s Mark III Flex cargo containment system.

Meanwhile, hot on the heels of the signing of the TMS Cardiff Gas FCC, Seatrium put pen to paper with two of its oldest LNGC customers, GasLog and Statsco (Shell International Shipping & Trading Co Ltd), renewing their FCCs for a further five years, with the option to extend. These agreements cover the repair and maintenance of a total of 43 LNGCs.
