Silja Symphony refit advances at Klaipeda yard

Interior refurbishments and key electronic systems for Silja Symphony (Source: Tallink)

The Finland-flagged Silja Symphony has reached the midpoint of its scheduled docking at BLRT Repair Yards in Klaipeda, with work progressing to plan as the cruise ferry undergoes an extensive refurbishment and systems upgrade.
Passengers will see immediate changes when the vessel returns to service, led by the refurbishment of the wooden parquet flooring along the ship’s distinctive indoor promenade. The yard is also renewing cabins, the spa, restaurants and several public areas as part of a wider interior refurbishment intended to extend the vessel’s operational life.
Alongside the hotel work, engineers are upgrading key electronic systems. A central element of the programme is the installation of the Kongsberg EcoPower control system, which will improve operational efficiency and enable lower energy consumption during voyages.
The shiprepair scope includes tasks that require dry conditions and therefore take place in the floating dock. These works cover cleaning and painting of the hull, servicing of anchors and anchor chains, and detailed inspection and maintenance of lifeboats in line with class and safety requirements. Additional routine maintenance activities are also under way while the vessel is out of service.
The refit aims to improve energy performance while maintaining the standard of onboard facilities expected by passengers on the route, supporting continued operations for years ahead.
Other vessels alongside at Klaipeda include container ships CMA CGM Tivoli, Eco Umande, passenger vessels Nils Holgersson, reefer Silver Crystal, and various general cargo ships.
