Seatrium completes seventh FSRU conversion for Karpowership

Seatrium and Karpowership have completed their seven-vessel floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) conversion programme with the sailaway of LNGT Türkiye from Seatrium’s Admiralty Yard in Singapore.
The project, which began eight years ago, converted seven LNG carriers into FSRUs for Karpowership’s LNG-to-power operations. The vessels are LNGT Africa, LNGT Asia, LNGT Europe, LNGT Antarctica, LNGT Americas, LNGT Oceania and LNGT Türkiye.
The programme included extensive conversion work to equip the vessels for LNG storage and regasification. Seatrium said the completion of LNGT Türkiye marked the final Karpowership project at Admiralty Yard under the seven-vessel programme.
The companies have since expanded their relationship. Seatrium announced an agreement in March 2026 covering the conversion, life extension and repair of three additional LNG carriers into FSRUs, alongside the integration of four new-generation Powerships, with options for two more.
The first of the additional LNG carriers, LNGT Karadeniz, is already undergoing conversion and is designed for a regasification capacity of up to 600 million standard cubic feet per day.
Seatrium said it has completed 22 FSRU, floating LNG and floating storage unit conversion projects worldwide. The company said its work with Karpowership had established a repeatable conversion model for deploying LNG infrastructure to support power generation projects.
