Singapore-listed Seatrium has completed the divestment of its US yard, AmFELS, in Brownsville, Texas, to Karpowership after the transaction closed on 30 January. Karpowership, a client of Seatrium, paid SGD 65 million (about EUR 43 million) for the yard, the shipyard group said.
Seatrium said it will retain a strategic presence in the US through offices in Houston and a service centre in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to support customers. AmFELS was previously part of Keppel Offshore & Marine and became part of Seatrium following the merger of Keppel O & M and Sembcorp Marine in April 2023.
Karpowership is a significant customer of Seatrium. Last year the company secured a project with Kinetics, a Karpowership energy transition company, for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) conversion.
In August 2025 the companies signed a letter of intent covering integration of four new generation powerships, with options for two more, along with conversion, life extension and repairs of three LNG carriers into FSRUs. Seatrium says the sale will help sharpen its focus on core operations while maintaining service capability for existing customers in the US market.
