Safeen Drydocks adds UAE’s largest floating dock

Safeen Drydocks has expanded its shiprepair capacity with the addition of a 230m-long floating dock at Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi, the largest such facility in the UAE.
The dock has a lifting capacity of 21,000 tonnes and is located alongside 1,000 metres of quayside. It is designed to undertake ocean-going commercial vessel and offshore rig repair projects, expanding Safeen Drydocks’ capacity for maintenance, refurbishment and repair work.
Safeen Drydocks is a joint venture between AD Ports Group and Premier Marine Engineering Services and operates more than 170,000m² of shipyard facilities at Khalifa Port and Zayed Port. The new dock will also support maintenance of Noatum Maritime’s deep-sea fleet, with the company expecting the additional capacity to improve scheduling flexibility and reduce vessel downtime.

The facility complements Safeen Drydocks’ wider expansion, including the recent acquisition of Balenciaga Shipyard in Spain, which has drydocks, a 105-m slipway and a 22,385-m² factory equipped with automated production technology.
The investment strengthens Safeen Drydocks’ ability to handle larger vessel maintenance projects from Abu Dhabi and expands the repair infrastructure available to Noatum Maritime and other vessel owners and operators in the region.
