Rotterdam Ship Repair and Rotterdam Sales and Service (RSS) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to expand their joint ship repair capabilities, with particular emphasis on hatch cover systems and hatch cranes. The deal was concluded at the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam and will see the two companies promote each other’s services and collaborate on maintenance and repair projects.
Rotterdam Ship Repair managing director, Jan-Kees Pilaar, said: “This partnership marks a significant step forward in diversifying our operations with a strong focus on the future. Our fast service and quay facilities align perfectly with RSS’s expertise, allowing us to jointly face the future with confidence.” He added that both companies would invest in personnel training to maintain service quality.
RSS managing director Gerrit van der Ham said: “The cooperation agreement between our companies provides a solid foundation for the future. Collaboration is key to the success of our clients. By decisively addressing hatch cover and gantry crane issues together, we help prevent costly downtime for vessels and ensure smooth operations.”
The agreement formalises an ongoing relationship between the two Dutch firms as demand grows for specialised work on hatch systems, particularly as operators seek to minimise port delays and maintain reliability across ageing cargo fleets.
