Rotterdam Ship Repair (RSR), together with sister company Eerland Ship Repair (ESR), has been operating close to full capacity this year with a broad range of upgrade, overhaul and repair projects completed successfully and on time. Caterpillar, MAN and Wärtsilä engines have been overhauled, winches have been dismantled and serviced, and bow thrusters have been serviced.

Meanwhile, several collision damage repairs have been completed, including the bow of a tanker which had collided with a quay. RSR arranged a suitable berth for the vessel and 24/7 repairs were carried out alongside using the company’s Marine Service 1 workboat (pictured), both as a crane and as a workshop, using the vessel’s hold.

ESR welding teams are qualified for welding high-density steel, carbon steel, stainless steel and duplex steels. Apart from such repairs undertaken in Rotterdam, the company’s mobile teams attend vessels across Europe, servicing offshore vessels, dredgers and workboats.

The company has recently commissioned a new dock. Fabricated mostly from reusable steel parts, including hatch covers and tank tops, it is equipped with the latest control and automation systems. With internal dimensions of 58m by 17m and a lifting capacity of 1,100 tonnes, the unit is used in the service of workboats and other vessels, including pilot, police and port craft.
