Rear Admiral Ravnish Seth takes charge as admiral superintendent of Naval Ship Repair Yard Karwar

Rear Admiral Ravnish Seth has assumed duties as admiral superintendent of the Naval Ship Repair Yard in Karwar, strengthening the Indian Navy’s maintenance capability on the western seaboard. He took charge on November 24th 2025, bringing more than three decades of engineering and leadership experience.
Commissioned into the engineering branch on November 30th 1991, Seth is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, the Naval War College in Goa and the National Defence College in New Delhi. He also holds degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University, the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology in Pune, Pune University and Madras University. A marine engineer by specialisation, he topped the Marine Engineering Specialisation Course at INS Shivaji.
His sea service includes deployments on the INS Khukri, INS Nishank and INS Delhi, along with an overseas posting as a technical staff officer with the Mauritius Coast Guard. Ashore, he has held senior technical and managerial roles at Naval Dockyard Mumbai, including maintenance and support activity manager, director general (capability) and additional general manager (production). He has also served as joint director of operations (technical) at naval headquarters.
As commanding officer of INS Shivaji, the establishment received the President’s Colour. Promoted to flag rank, he became director at the Directorate of Marine Design and Engineering in Hyderabad and later chief staff officer (technical) at Eastern Naval Command. He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2025. His appointment at Karwar is expected to bolster repair, refit and readiness across the fleet.
