The 140m-long vehicle carrier Polaris Liberty has completed scheduled maintenance at BLRT Repair Yards in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Owned by Polaris Autoliners and managed by OSM Thome, the vessel has a capacity of 2,000 CEU and is designed to provide efficient, high-volume transport for major vehicle manufacturers worldwide.
The maintenance programme was carried out in close cooperation between BLRT’s yard teams and the vessel’s crew to ensure continued safe and reliable operations. The scope of work included steel renewal and rudder repairs to secure responsive manoeuvring, as well as a full overhaul of the stern ramp system, a key element for roll-on/roll-off operations.
In addition, a silicone-based fouling-release coating supplied by Hempel Marine was applied to the hull, reducing drag and enhancing fuel efficiency. The coating technology supports the vessel’s performance while contributing to lower environmental impact.
“Thank you to Polaris Autoliners and OSM Thome for the trust, and to the dedicated teams involved in delivering yet another successful project,” BLRT repair yard Klaipeda said in a statement.
