Phoenix International has completed an emergency underwater hull repair project in Pascagoula, Mississippi, following damage sustained when the vessel grounded.
The company mobilised a team of commercial divers in early April to assess the vessel and carry out repairs. Following a detailed underwater inspection, the team identified multiple fractures on the vessel's starboard forward hull and developed a repair plan in accordance with class-approved procedures.
Working underwater, Phoenix divers repaired the damaged sections to prevent further deterioration and restore the vessel's structural integrity. The operation utilised underwater video systems and continuous communication with surface personnel to maintain safety and operational efficiency throughout the project.
After the repairs were completed, the affected areas were sealed and protected from the marine environment. A final inspection confirmed the successful completion of the work, allowing the vessel to return to service without the need for further intervention.
"When vessel owners face unexpected damage, they need a partner who can mobilize quickly, assess the situation, and deliver reliable solutions,” said Phoenix International Florida Area Manager David Lamon. “Our team worked safely and efficiently to complete the repairs and help get this vessel back on track."
The project highlights the role of underwater repair services in enabling vessel owners to address structural damage quickly while minimising operational disruption.
