OceanPact acquires Brazilian shiprepair yard Dock Brasil

Brazilian offshore services group OceanPact has agreed to acquire shiprepair specialist Dock Brasil, expanding its presence in the vessel maintenance and drydocking market.

The transaction will be carried out through OceanPact subsidiary Estaleiro Farol de São Tomé, which has entered into a share purchase agreement covering the acquisition of all shares in Dock Brasil. Completion remains subject to customary conditions, including the restructuring and settlement of certain outstanding debts held by the target company.

Dock Brasil operates the Dock Brasil Shipyard in São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro state, where it provides repair and drydocking services, primarily for offshore support vessels. OceanPact is best known for its fleet of subsea support and oil spill response vessels, as well as its engineering and logistics activities serving the offshore energy sector.

OceanPact said the acquisition would strengthen its ability to provide repair, maintenance and drydocking services both to its own fleet and to third-party customers.

The agreed consideration comprises a base purchase price of approximately BRL 119 million (EUR 20.4 million), calculated on a cash-free, debt-free basis and subject to standard adjustments.

The deal reflects continued consolidation in Brazil's maritime services sector as vessel operators seek greater control over maintenance capacity and shipyard access. For OceanPact, ownership of a dedicated ship repair facility is expected to provide additional support for fleet operations while creating opportunities to expand third-party repair and maintenance work in the offshore market.

If completed, the acquisition will add a strategically located shipyard in one of Brazil's main offshore industry hubs to OceanPact's portfolio.
