Shipyards in the Spanish state-owned repair group, Navantia, have held high occupancy in recent weeks, completing a wide range of repairs and upgrades to various ship types. Recent projects in the Ferrol Estuary facility have included continuing work on the repair and upgrade of the offshore wind installation vessel, Brave Tern, owned by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier. This project, scheduled to last for about seven months, has involved about half that time in dock, and partly alongside. The upgrade has included the installation of a new 1,600-tonne Huisman crane.

Other projects in both the Ferrol yard and Cádiz Bay facility have focused on LNG vessels. Lengthy repairs and upgrades on two floating storage regasification units, the Energos-owned Energos Freeze and Excelerate Energy-owned Excelsior, have continued there. And the Gaslog Warsaw, owned by Gaslog LNG Services, has now completed its docking in Ferrol.

Meanwhile in Cádiz Bay, three LNG carriers have undergone repairs and upgrades – the 2019-built Rias Baixas Knutsen, the BW Pavilion Aranda, also 2019, and the 2004-built Berg Arzew. Other ships repaired at the Cádiz facility include two container vessels, Charlotta and Jaime S, a bulk carrier, Impala, three Boluda-owned tugs, and the Costa Atlantica, a hopper dredger.
