BLRT Repair Yards Klaipėda has completed a comprehensive upgrade on the Liberia-flagged chemical tanker Mistral Beacon, enabling the vessel to return to service following a scheduled drydocking period. The work covered hull treatment, propulsion-system checks, machinery maintenance and statutory inspections.
The shipyard said the project involved specialists from several disciplines working on a coordinated repair programme designed to prepare the vessel for its next operational cycle.
A major element of the work was hull surface preparation and coating renewal across 6,700m² of underwater hull, vertical sides and topside structures. The coating programme was intended to preserve hull integrity, support operational efficiency and provide long-term protection of the asset.
BLRT also carried out maintenance on underwater equipment linked to the vessel’s propulsion system. This included propeller polishing, tailshaft wear measurements and rudder-clearance inspections to verify the condition of critical components before the tanker returned to operation.
Additional mechanical work included engine-room ventilation equipment, auxiliary machinery, valves and deck equipment installations. The scope was completed alongside statutory inspections, testing and certification requirements.
The yard said the project relied on close cooperation between the vessel’s crew, the owner’s representatives and the shipyard team. According to BLRT, the maintenance of Mistral Beacon demonstrated how coordinated planning, technical expertise and efficient project execution can minimise downtime and help vessels return to service on schedule. The company added that the completed works would support the tanker’s safe and reliable operation during its next trading period.
