Leading expedition cruise line Lindblad Expeditions has acquired two small vessels from Celebrity Cruises which will undergo multi-million USD upgrades in early 2025 before they enter service for Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic in its dedicated Galapagos Islands cruises.
The two vessels in question are the 2,931gt 2001-built Celebrity Xpedition, which can carry 48 passengers, and the smaller 319gt 2007-built Celebrity Xploration, which can carry 16 passengers. No shipyard/s has yet been named that will carry out the upgrading work.
Both vessels were specifically designed and built for the Galapagos cruise market, which is offshore Ecuador, in South America.
