MacGregor has secured an order to supply a 400-tonne SWL active heave compensated (AHC) subsea crane for a new 127-metre floating wind farm construction vessel (FWCV) under construction at Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry Co, Ltd (CN). Operations will be managed by Hana Shipping Co, Ltd ( KR). The crane, one of the largest AHC subsea units ordered in recent years, will support mooring operations, cable laying and construction work in the floating offshore wind sector.
The vessel’s first assignment is expected at the Ulsan floating wind farm, about 70 km off the coast of South Korea. MacGregor has booked the order in its first quarter 2026 intake, with crane delivery scheduled for end-2027 and vessel delivery in Q2 2028.
Lucie Addicks, executive vice president offshore solutions division at MacGregor, said: “This significant contract win underlines MacGregor’s position as one of the few global suppliers capable of delivering AHC subsea cranes of this size and complexity with the track record of proven performance in service.”
The crane’s under-deck main hoist requires close integration with the yard, and MacGregor says proximity of its production facilities will support efficient project execution.
