Keel laid for Sefine Shipyard’s new 75,000-ton lifting capacity floating dock

The major expansion of drydocking facilities at leading Turkish shipbuilder and repairer Sefine Shipyard, based in Yalova, took a major step forward at the end of February when the keel was laid for its new 75,000-ton lifting capacity floating dock in China.
The new floating dock, which measures 360m x 58m, is expected to be fully operational by early 2025 and will join the yard’s two other drydocks – the Post-Panamax size graving dock – Dock No. 1 – which measures 240m x 42m and can accommodate vessels up to 90,000dwt, and Dock No. 2 – the Aframax size floating dock, which measures 282m x 47m and is capable of accommodating vessels up to 120,000dwt.
Meanwhile, vessels undergoing repair at this yard on February 26th included the following:
- Minerva Joy – 45,990dwt built 2008 crude oil tanker, owned by Greece’s Minerva Marine, Athens
- Minerva Rita – 50,950dwt 2005-built chemical tanker, owned by Greece’s Minerva Marine, Athens
- Clyde – 49,999dwt 2019-built chemical tanker, owned by Singapore’s Hai Kuo Shipping and managed by Singapore’s Manuel Pte Ltd
- Bromley – 17,568dwt 2008-built chemical tanker, owned by Japan’s Kimura Shoji Co Ltd and managed by the UK’s Atlantas Ship Management Ltd
- Falcona – 3,294dwt 990-built bunkering tanker, owned by Greece’s Jet Tank Maritime, Athens
- AF Marina – 14,169gt 1994-built RoPax ferry, owned by Italy’s Adria Ferries, Ancona, and operating services across the Adriatic to Albania
