Hornblower launches yacht refit division at Steelpointe shipyard

Hornblower Group has launched Hornblower Marine Yachts, a new division focused on yacht refit and maintenance at its Steelpointe Shipyard in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The facility, formerly part of Derecktor Shipyards Connecticut, has undergone expansion from one acre to 17 acres and now offers 4,181m2 of indoor workspace alongside lifting capacity of up to 700 tonnes.
The yard supports a range of services including metal fabrication, welding, electrical works and painting, targeting yachts between 15.24m and 61m in length.
Senior Vice President Junior Volpe said the expansion broadens access to large-yard capabilities. “The leadership, expertise, and capabilities of the nation’s largest shipyards shouldn’t be inaccessible to yacht and recreational vessel owners,” he said.
The site benefits from deep-water access of approximately 6.7m and can accommodate both sailing and motor yachts without air draft restrictions.
Hornblower said the move reflects a strategic expansion into the yacht maintenance segment while leveraging its existing shipyard infrastructure and maritime operations.
