EVE Energy and Green Whale Technology (GWT) have signed a strategic partnership to expand the global deployment of high-performance marine Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS). The alliance combines EVE’s lithium marine battery technology with GWT’s marine engineering, lifecycle service and commissioning expertise. The companies have previously delivered Asia’s first BV-classed marine battery container and now aim to accelerate adoption worldwide.
The BESS features active balancing technology, giving it a projected 15-year lifecycle, longer than typical lithium iron phosphate (LFP) or NMC systems, and lowering total cost of ownership. EVE Energy is currently the only supplier offering 3C continuous LFP marine batteries – meaning batteries which can charge or discharge an amount equivalent to three times their full capacity, per hour.
The partnership leverages large-scale production capacity, maritime experience, cost efficiencies, and secure EU-based digital cloud services to provide global customers with reliable support and timely delivery.
GWT is establishing cloud platforms in the Netherlands, with spare parts also in that country as well as Norway, ensuring digital security, regulatory compliance, and rapid after-sales service. EVE Energy’s factory can produce over 10 MWh per day, while the 3C marine battery system is priced below USD 300 per kWh.
Godfrey Wang, CEO of GWT, said: “GWT is very proud of this partnership … we look forward to growing together.”
Yong Cong Xiong, EVE Energy’s head of marine and port, added: “By collaborating on all the key elements in BESS development, manufacturing, delivery and service, we aim to ensure that customers receive the best available battery technology, backed by global support throughout the product lifecycle of our systems.”
