Gibdock has successfully completed a major offshore refit for Deep Blue, Technip’s flagship pipelay and subsea construction vessel. The work enhances the Gibraltar yard’s reputation for excellence in servicing high-value offshore assets.
Following relocation from the US Gulf, Deep Blue underwent scheduled drydocking and extensive work, including steel and piping renewal, hull and tank recoating, and machinery overhauls. The 3,000m depth-rated vessel, featuring dual 2,800-tonne reels and flexible lay systems, also had all eight thrusters removed and serviced, with the vessel resting on 428 blocks after a 3.7m elevation in Dock No. 1.
Gibdock mobilised a team of around 600 personnel, operating 24/7 to ensure a timely redelivery. “We are proud to have welcomed Deep Blue and once again work with Technip on a significant project,” said John Taylor, Gibdock MD. “Our team’s expertise and dedication ensure that we consistently deliver high-quality maintenance and repair services to meet the technical demands of complex offshore vessels while upholding the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.”
The project continues a strong run of offshore work for Gibdock, including repairs to another pipelayer and a jack-up platform bound for Australia.
