Germany’s Strela Shiprepair dry-docks floating museum ship Stubnitz

German ship repairer Strela Shiprepair, based in the Baltic port of Stralsund, dry-docked the former East German fish-factory vessel Stubnitz on July 8 at its Syncrolift shiplift and transfer system repair facility, in the centre of the confirmed Volkswerft Maritimer Industrie- und Gewerbepark.
It is now owned and operated as a museum ship in Hamburg by Germany’s sponsorship organisation Denkmal- und Kulturschiff Stubnitz e.V. as a museum ship. The work currently underway at the yard is for the vessel's twelfth five-year special survey and involves extensive repairs and upgrades.
The return of the 2,541gt Stubnitz to Stralsund is actually like a homecoming, as the ship was built in 1964 at the Volkswerft Stralsund shipyard.
After the work at this shipyard, the ship will then be open to the Stralsund public for a few weeks before returning to its home port of Hamburg.
