Damen Shiprepair Curaçao targets regional expansion under new structure

Damen Shiprepair Curaçao has introduced a revised management and commercial structure aimed at strengthening its position as a regional shiprepair hub serving Caribbean, Central and South American vessel traffic.
The yard said the new leadership team is focusing on operational reliability, capability expansion and increased engagement with regional operators as part of a broader strategy to attract more complex repair and maintenance projects.
Managing Director Surldric Rojer stated that Damen’s global network and integrated shipbuilding and repair operations provide a stable platform for long-term development at the Curaçao facility. The yard has prioritised delivery performance and certification as initial steps, recently securing ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 recertification while progressing towards ISO 14001 environmental certification.
Commercial activity is being strengthened through locally based representation targeting Central and South American markets, supporting Damen’s wider repair network and harbour and voyage repair services.
Management indicated that future investment will focus on diversification into higher-value and technically demanding projects, supported by existing infrastructure that includes two operational drydocks with available space for additional capacity expansion.
Damen Shiprepair Curaçao highlighted its location along major Atlantic trade routes and outside the hurricane belt as key competitive advantages, enabling year-round operations and rapid logistics access for vessels trading between the Americas, Europe and Asia.
