Damen Shiprepair Brest ended April on a high with two cruise ships in drydock undergoing scheduled refits.

Undergoing repair in Drydock No.2 on May 1st was the 10,944gt 2010-built expedition cruise ship Le Boreal, owned by Marseille-based Ponant Cruises. This vessel arrived from Las Palmas on April 15th.

Meanwhile, in Drydock No.3 was Royal Caribbean International’s 90,090gt 2004-built Jewel of the Seas, which arrived from Southampton on April 21st.

Celebrating 20 years in service this year, the Radiance-class vessel is undergoing technical repairs as well as work on the vessel’s hotel side, inspections and class work.

Jewel of the Seas three-week drydocking also includes the overhaul of the vessel’s Azipod propulsion system, bow thrusters and stabilisers, as well as complete repainting of the hull and superstructure, as well as work on the vessel’s electrical system.

The RCI-owned cruise vessel is set to return to service on May 15th when she starts a summer season of cruises in Northern Europe. The first cruise is from Amsterdam, a 15-night cruise to Iceland, Ireland and the British Isles.

This northwest France repairer has already drydocked the following RCI-owned vessels this year: Grandeur of the Seas, Spectrum of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas.
