January saw the Royal Canadian Navy’s Kingston-class coastal patrol vessel HMCS Goose Bay (707) complete a ten-month refit at Nova Scotia-based Canadian ship repairer Shelburne. As part of the 1998-commissioned vessel’s refit, the patrol vessel was painted in a unique dazzle paint scheme, as applied to the Royal Navy’s Batch 2 River-class OPVs.
The end of January/early February saw Shelburne Ship Repair working on the 1991-built 863gt research vessel Coriolis II, owned by the University of Quebec at Rimouski (UQAR) and the ASD harbour tug Atlantic Willow, owned by St. John’s New Brunswick-based Atlantic Towing.
The above two vessels will be followed by the 2001-built arctic shrimp and Greenland halibut trawler Sivulliq, owned by Baffin Fisheries, based in Paradise, Newfoundland, and the 311gt 2006-built fisheries research vessel Fundy Leader, owned by Clearwater Seafood, Bedford, Nova Scotia.
