The end of 2024 and the early weeks of 2025 have seen a wide range of projects undertaken at Astilleros Guadalquivir – eleven vessels have been repaired, eight from repeat clients.

Major projects have included a block engine replacement, undertaken afloat, on the 12,678dwt general cargo Heerengracht. The 2013-built Blue Vega, 3,952dwt, owned by Cádiz-based Mureloil, has had its third intermediate survey, with major steel and pipe renewals, new tank coatings, and tail shaft withdrawal. And the 2009-built Iver Ships-owned 6,482dwt Iver Bitumen, had extensive pipe and steelwork carried out during its third special survey.

The Seville shipyard has also completed repairs on two Rohde Nielsen vessels. The 2,031dwt hopper dredger, Idun R, has been fitted with a new gantry and piping upgrades, while the 3,200dwt suction hopper dredger, Brage R, has gone through its sixth intermediate survey. Steel upgrades and piping work was completed as well as standard docking works.

Two older cargo vessels have been also repaired. The 1979-built Gubal Trader, a 2,362dwt RoRo ship owned by Alexandria-based United Marine Egypt, docked for its tenth survey, undergoing major steel repairs.  And the Sirios Ship Management-owned 3,399dwt self-discharging cement carrier Sirios Cement V, built in 1988, is currently undergoing its seventh intermediate survey.

Meanwhile, afloat repairs were completed on two Peter Doehle Schiffahrts container ships, the 2003-built 864-TEU Candelaria B and the 1034-TEU Isabella B, built in 2012. The 804-TEU feeder container ship, Dream, built in 2006 and owned by Reederei Kopping, received afloat steel repairs and the 7,562dwt general cargo ship, Carina S, owned by MSCo Global Ltd of Malta, underwent electrical repairs.

A spokesperson for the yard told SRN that the company has a strong forward book.
