ASRY has launched a major solar energy project at its Bahrain yard with the support of Bapco Energies and in partnership with Kanoo CleanMax Renewables. The development will be the largest solar installation in the ship repair and shipbuilding sector. It will support Bahrain’s transition to clean energy and cut operating costs at the yard.

The plant will deliver 22.5MW in phase one and a further 22MW in phase two, with annual output to exceed 71 million kWh after both phases are completed. Energy savings are expected to top USD 2 million per year.

“At ASRY we believe environmental responsibility is an integral part of our corporate strategy, and based on this, we are keen to launch practical initiatives that support the green transition adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain,” said ASRY CEO Ahmed Al Abri.

Kanoo Industrial and Energy chairman Ali Abdulla Kanoo said the project underlines national sustainability goals. Kuldeep Jain, the Chairperson & Managing Director of CleanMax, said: “We are proud to bring our expertise to Bahrain, delivering impactful solar solutions that enable industries to lead sustainably, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute meaningfully to the Kingdom’s clean energy vision.”
