ASRY completes major upgrade programme for Admarine 339 rig

Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) has completed a major maintenance and upgrade programme for the jack-up drilling rig Admarine 339 owned by oil and gas drilling contractor ADES.

The project included a Special Periodic Survey, drydocking, maintenance work and a series of upgrades carried out as part of ADES' wider fleet enhancement programme. ASRY said the work was completed safely, on schedule and within budget.

According to the yard, the project marked a significant technical milestone as Admarine 339, a JU-2000E-design jack-up rig, became the largest jack-up drilling rig ever accommodated at the Bahrain facility. The docking operation required detailed engineering studies, extensive planning and coordination between the two companies.

The project also coincided with ASRY becoming an NOV-approved repair facility. As a result, equipment that would previously have been sent to external NOV workshops was repaired directly at the yard in accordance with original equipment manufacturer procedures and standards. ASRY said this reduced logistics costs and shortened turnaround times.

The completion of the programme further strengthens ASRY's position in the offshore maintenance and upgrade market, particularly for large and technically demanding assets. The yard said the project demonstrated its ability to undertake complex rig repair and modification work while supporting operators seeking to extend the service life and operational capability of existing offshore units.
