Advanced Polymer Coatings (APC) has completed a recoating contract for Spanish shipping company Marflet Marine. The 49,999dwt tanker Panagia Thalassini has been treated with APC’s MarineLINE protective tank coating at IMC Shipyard in Zhoushan, China.

The project follows the earlier successful coating of Marflet’s Santiago 1, also a 49,999dwt vessel. Both ships were built in Croatia.

APC said Marflet chose MarineLINE for its resistance to aggressive cargoes, faster cleaning times and reduced contamination risks. The system is also suited to handling challenging free fatty-acid cargoes that require heated carriage. According to APC, shorter cleaning cycles improve operational efficiency, enable more sailing days and reduce emissions by cutting the fuel needed to heat cleaning water.

Peter Stoyles, APC European sales manager, said the partnership with Marflet was built on proven performance: “Switching easily between cargoes and achieving faster cleaning were very important. This improves vessel earnings and lowers operating costs.”

APC has reported strong growth in the tanker sector, with its MarineLINE coating now applied to around 700 ships worldwide. The company is expanding its Ohio production site to meet rising demand.
