EST-Floattech adds LFP modules to Octopus Series battery range

Choosing air cooling over liquid cooling would reduce chances of leakage, EST-Floattech said (Source: EST-Floattech)

EST-Floattech has expanded its Octopus Series portfolio with new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery modules, offering shipowners and shipbuilders greater flexibility in energy storage configurations. The new modules, launched from the company’s Amsterdam base, respond to growing market demand for alternative chemistries in large-scale maritime battery systems.

Each LFP module delivers 52V and 233Ah and is designed for scalable integration. A modular rack design with integrated air cooling confers a low-maintenance build, improved safety, and eliminates the risk of liquid leakage, the company claims.

“By introducing LFP to our Octopus Series, we empower shipbuilders and operators with even more choice,” said Mark Witjens, CEO of EST-Floattech. “We understand that different vessels have different energy profiles. LFP gives us the ability to serve applications with a high energy capacity demand and long discharge and charge cycles with a robust, safe, and cost-effective solution -- without compromising on our commitment to reliability and quality.”

The new modules integrate with EST-Floattech’s in-house developed Battery Management System, which ensures precise thermal control, safety, and real-time diagnostics. Type approval certification is expected early next year.

With this addition, EST-Floattech aims to serve a wider range of vessel designs and hybrid systems, continuing its 15-year track record of innovation in maritime battery technologies.
