Roll Group to ship heavy components for Total ethane cracker

The MC-class vessels transport several large and voluminous modules

The modules, which are currently under construction in Hamriyah, UAE, will be shipped to Port Arthur in the US on board both RollDock and BigRoll vessels between now and August. Seven separate voyages will be required. The company will also provide services relating to land transport through Roll-Lift.
The project marks the first time that Roll Group will fulfil transport obligations from the fabrication yard to the site of such a large project, including the land transport, in one go. The company has the ability to load and discharge heavy cargoes directly from the quay to its vessels and vice versa.
The Total ethane cracker is due to commence operations in 2020 and will have an ethylene production capacity of one million tonnes a year. It is being built adjacent to Total’s Port Arthur refinery and the Total/BASF steam cracker.

Netherlands-based Roll Group has won a contract to transport 24 modules for a Total ethane cracker in the US.
