The Indian Register of Shipping has certified a new workboat developed by the country’s Accurate Industrial Control equipped with collision avoidance software. The 13m-long vessel, suitable for port and harbour security, critical infrastructure protection, offshore energy, coastal surveillance and environmental monitoring, has undergone sea trials In the Arabian Sea following construction at the SHM Shipyard Limited in Mumbai.
The vessel is equipped with Intelligent Situational Awareness and Collision Avoidance (ISACA) technology including a range of situational awareness sensors and a full collision avoidance system. The vessel has been confirmed as complying in full with the IMO’s collision regulations.
The company’s Dharmesh Popatlal Gala, director of AI and Robotics, said that the company is now receiving interest and orders for both newbuild and retrofit versions of the ISACA-equipped vessel.
“We now see massive growth potential for our collision avoidance software and autonomous navigation solutions to be supplied at scale into Europe, the Middle East, India and beyond. We are seeing queries from navies, coastguards, as well as ports, harbours, and the offshore market.”
