The company will provide up to 69 systems, comprising of both its Aquarius UV (ultra-violet) and Aquarius EC (electro-chlorination) systems.
Commenting on the order, Lazaros Skoularikos, COO of Eletson, said: “For Eletson, the BWMS supplier selection was a very important decision. Compliance enablement was naturally a prime requirement, but also the track record, lifecycle costs, and the supplier’s support capabilities had to be considered. For all these reasons, we chose Wärtsilä.”
Both of the Wärtsilä systems have received IMO type approval. The Aquarius EC system has already been type approved by the US Coast Guard (USCG) and the Aquarius UV system is currently undergoing the approval process.

Finnish technology group Wärtsilä is to provide ballast water management systems (BWMS) for 23 product, chemical and LPG tankers operated by Greece’s Eletson Corporation.
