Wärtsilä CSSC joint venture now open for business

The signing ceremony marking the official opening of the CWE&A joint venture company

CSSC Wärtsilä Electrical and Automation (Shanghai) Co Ltd (CWE&A), headed by general manager Christian Heinsohn, will provide advanced electrical and automation systems for China’s rapidly growing marine market, notably in the cruise sector.
In addition to automation, navigation, communications, dynamic positioning, electric propulsion, power distribution and shipboard entertainment, the company will also offer project engineering, project management services, commissioning and supply management.
Roger Holm, president of Wärtsilä Marine Solutions, said: “Shipping is becoming increasingly high-tech, and advanced electrical and automation solutions are essential for achieving the best efficiency and greater safety. With digitalisation now an integral part of shipping’s future, Wärtsilä’s leading position in this field will enable CWE&A to fully meet the needs of its customers well in the future.”
Wärtsilä and CSSC already have joint venture engine and propeller companies in China.

In a large ceremony at last week’s Marintec in Shanghai technology group Wärtsilä and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) have announced that their joint venture is now fully operational.
