W-FSRP series to offer floating LNG power generation solutions

The W-FSRP concept for power-generating capacities from 10 to 800 MW (Sketch: Wison)

Shanghai-based energy and offshore fabrication group Wison Offshore & Marine has new designs for floating electricity supply vessels.

Called the Wison Floating Storage Regasification and Power Generation (W-FSRP) type, the concept is for vessels capable of liquefied natural gas (LNG) loading and storage, regasification and electric power generation. The smallest vessel is of 10 MW power generation capacity and the largest is of 800 MW. Floating power supply can provide a faster answer to sudden power shortages than building land-based power stations, the company said. “We can see increasing demand from the regions in South East Asia, west Africa, Caribbean areas, the west coast of India, where electricity demand is growing and onshore solutions may not be commercially feasible or preferable,” said Mr Ying Cui, Wison’s chief executive officer.
