Viking to supply ambulance boats to Greece

This is the first time that the Hellenic Coast Guard has incorporated ambulance boats in its fleet and, if the project fulfills expectations, more orders could be on the horizon (Source: Viking)

A contract to provide three high-speed ambulance boats to support emergency service in the Aegean Sea has been won by Viking Life-Saving Equipment. The Danish company won the international tender, supported and financed by the European Union, which was issued jointly by the Hellenic Coast Guard and the Greek Emergency Response Organization.
The three boats, which will be built at the Viking Norsafe facility in Thiva, Greece, will be based on the company’s successful Viking Norsafe Munin S1200 design, with twin diesel stern-drive engines giving speeds of up to 40 knots. They will all be delivered during the summer of 2020 and stationed on remote Greek islands in the Aegean Sea.
