The new 63,000gt passenger vessel (Rendering: Viking Line)

The total value of the order is likely to be around 190 million euros. The letter of intent includes an option for an additional vessel. The first ferry will be delivered in spring 2020. A final order is expected to be signed in spring 2017.
The vessel will be 218m long and carry 2,800 passengers. It will have 1,500 lane metres of cargo capacity. According to Viking Line’s chief executive officer Mr Jan Hanses, the intention is for the vessel to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG).The plan is to engage a number of European suppliers for the project, including
ship design company Deltamarin, Finnish engine maker Wärtsilä, and ABB Marine. The new vessel is planned to serve the Turku-Aland Islands-Stockholm route between Finland and Sweden.

Finnish shipping company Viking Line and China’s Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry have signed a letter of intent (LOI) for construction of a passenger vessel of 63,000gt.
