Dutch yard Thecla Bodewes has secured an order for four 7,000dwt diesel-electric multi-purpose dry cargo vessels placed by Vertom, one of Dutch leading international operating shipping companies.

The LABRAX design is especially developed to Vertom’s requirements and aims to provide a fuel-efficient speed power performance powered by a future-proof modular electric propulsion system. The completely box-shaped holds aim to provide high loading flexibility and rapid cargo intake.

A keel-laying ceremony of the four118.6m-long and 14.3m-wide vessels took place in the builder’s yard in October.

Delivery is scheduled for 2022 and 2023.
