Vard wins third expedition cruise contract from Hapag-Lloyd

The first two vessels in the Hanseatic series will be delivered in 2019

Fincantieri-owned Vard Group has won a third polar expedition cruise vessel contract from German cruise company Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

The 16,000gt vessel is the third vessel in the cruise line’s Hanseatic series with the other two currently under construction. The hull of the latest ship will be built by Vard in Romania before further construction and outfitting is undertaken at Vard Langsten in Norway. Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2021.
The latest 139m-long vessel will have a breadth of 22m and seven decks with accommodation for 230 passengers in 120 cabins and suites. The Hanseatic series is designed to a high standard internally and the three vessels will all feature a water sports marina and modern spa and fitness facilities. The vessels are designed for cruises in the polar regions of the Arctic and Antarctic, as well as voyages in warm regions such as the Amazon.
