U.S. Navy's newest DDG 51 class destroyer delivered

“Gravity” at sea trials

Gravely” is the 27th DDG 51 class ship delivered to the Navy and will be commissioned on Nov. 20 in Wilmington, N.C.


The 155.45 m long and 17.9 m wide destroyer will be operated with a crew of over 300 officer and sailors. Four gas-turbine propulsion plants will power the ship to speeds above 30 kts.
The multi-mission ship can conduct a variety of operations, from peacetime presence and crisis management to sea control and power projection, all in support of the United States' military strategy.

After returning from her successful sea trials in the gulf of Mexico the new destroyer “Gravely” built at Northrop Grumman Corporation yard at Pascagoula, Mississippi, was accepted by the U.S. Navy.
