“Gravity” at sea trials
“Gravely” is the 27th DDG 51 class ship delivered to the Navy and will be commissioned on Nov. 20 in Wilmington, N.C.
The 155.45 m long and 17.9 m wide destroyer will be operated with a crew of over 300 officer and sailors. Four gas-turbine propulsion plants will power the ship to speeds above 30 kts.
The multi-mission ship can conduct a variety of operations, from peacetime presence and crisis management to sea control and power projection, all in support of the United States' military strategy.
