Ulstein Verft to construct large cable laying vessel for Nexans

Skipsteknisk-designed cable layer type ST-297 CLV

The vessel will be fitted for power cable laying, including laying, repairs, cable system protection and trenching. It will be 149.9m long, 31m wide and can accommodate 90 people. The ST-297 CLV design comes from marine architects Skipsteknisk. The vessel is aimed at operations in rough weather and has high manoeuvrability and station keeping capabilities. It will have a turntable with a large cable capacity of 10,000 tonnes, and the fibre optic basket holds 450 tonnes of cable.

Norwegian yard Ulstein Verft has an order to construct a 17,000dwt cable-laying vessel for French group Nexans.
