Ulstein design for Petrofac

Sketch of the Petrofac JSD 6000

The customised Ulstein SOC 5000 design, developed by the Dutch company Ulstein Sea of Solutions, part of Norwegian Ulstein Group, will be built at the ZPMC yard in China.
The 215.9m-long and 49m-wide DP3 vessel will feature J-Lay, S-Lay and heavy-lift capabilities, allowing serving deep-water and SURF markets as well as shallow water EPCI projects.
The vessel will also be equipped with an NOV revolving main crane with a lifting capacity of 5,000 tonnes. Ulstein points out that the combination of a 600-tonne Remacut S-lay system via a centre firing line below main deck, and a 2,000-tonne IHC EB J-lay system via a moonpool make the vessel truly unique. The delivery is scheduled for early 2017.

Sharjah-based Petrofac, an international provider of integrated facilities services to the oil, gas and energy production and processing industries, has announced the construction of a Petrofac JSD 6000 deep-water derrick lay vessel.
