Type approval for BWTS

Together with the type approval obtained by the Greek administration in May, the certificate makes the system accepted for its mechanical design and biological efficiency.
According to the company, the system uses a simple and effective 200 micron self-cleaning pre-filter and a 20 micron hydro cyclone technology exhibiting outstanding performance in very high sediment loads. Further more advanced energy-efficient electrolytic cells providing a combination of very low footprint in tailor-made, ship-type optimum arrangements, of very low power consumption, of easiness in installation, with minimised labour and material costs and risk-free operation in all sea conditions.

The Erma First ballast water treatment system (BWTS), manufactured by Greece-based Erma First ESK Engineering Solutions SA, has received the class type approval from Lloyd’s Register.
