The new TSHD is scheduled to be constructed within 21 months (Source: Työvene)

Finnish shipbuilder Työvene has won an order for a trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) from the maritime agency in Gdynia, Poland. The order is worth about euro 20 million.

The contract is a result of a tender, where the design developed by Työvene and Dutch partners C-Job and Holland Marine Technologies beat other competitors.

The project will provide full employment for Työvene’s own staff in Uusikaupunki and numerous sub-contractors. Delivery time for the dredger is 21 months. When completed, the ship will be used by the Maritime office of Gdynia for maintenance and preservation work on the five metres deep main waterway from the Gulf of Gdansk through the Vistula Lagoon to the Elbląg River.
