Two service vessels for Farstad Shipping

Farstad Shipping ordered two vessels of Rolls-Royce’s UT 731 CD design

The builder of offshore and specialised vessels STX OSV Holdings Limited has signed contracts for the construction of two multi-functional deep-water anchor handling/offshore service vessels.

The newbuildings are ordered by Farstad Shipping, Aalesund, Norway. Each vessel of the type Rolls Royce UT 731 CD will have an overall length of 87.4m and a breadth of 21m. The bollard pull will be 260 tonnes and the installed power is said to be approximately 24,000HP. The newbuildings are built according to DNV´s strictest environmental class “Clean Design”. The hulls of the vessels will be built from STX OSV Tulcea, Romania. The outfitting yard is STX OSV Langsten in Tomrefjord, Norway, and the delivery date is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014. The total value of the newbuilding contracts amounts to approximately NOK 1.2 billion.
