The vessels will use LNG (liqufied natural gas) fuel to protect the environment. The Brodosplit container vessel will have a low-speed 2-stroke dual-fuel (LNG/HFO) engines that have higher efficiency/lower-energy consumption and work at lower rpm, resulting in lower maintenance costs and longer life span. “The container vessels from Brodosplit shipyard will have four to five times lower cost per nautical mile than the other ships of this class, and 30-50 times less environmental pollution,” the yard said. Thanks to more efficient consumption and efficiency, investments in the 2-stroke dual-fuel engines could be paid out after two to three years of operation, the yard said. The engines will be made by the Brodosplit diesel engine factory, under licence from MAN and the special tanks for LNG fuel will also be produced by Brodosplit shipyard.

Croatian yard Brodosplit said it has signed a contract for construction of two multi-purpose container vessels with Croatian customer Brodosplit Navigation Ltd.
