Tuna purse seiner vessel to be built in Spain

The new 88m-long fishing vessel

The Echebastar Group signed a newbuilding contract for a 1900m3 tuna purse seiner vessel with the Spanish shipyard Zamakona S.A., based in Puerto Pesquero.

The total investment volume of the contract is about EUR 30 million. 
The vessel is designed and developed by Cintranaval-Defcar, Bilbao. The 88m-long and 14m-wide newbuilding will be equipped with different fish detecting, freezing and tuna handling systems. Furthermore, the ship will have 20 cargo tanks for freezing and storage with a total cargo volume of 1,330 tonnes of tuna. The captured fish will be also conserved on board. According to the shipyard the construction time for the vessel will be approximately two years.
